Erasmus+
Mindfulness Course for Teachers
In Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland

This 5 day Mindfulness course for teachers is specially aimed at teachers of all levels and schools. It is an introduction to the theory and research behind Mindfulness, and offers valuable tools for self-care and stress managements as well as cultivating mindfulness in school environment.
“Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally” (Jon Kabat-Zinn). Mindfulness teaches us to be more present, observe the present-moment-experience with curiosity and acceptance.
Research has shown Mindfulness reduces stress and anxiety, improves concentration, and increases happiness and contentment in life. It’s been shown in research to be effective in improving workplace wellness, work satisfaction and both treating and preventing burnout. Regular mindfulness practice is a valuable self-care tool for anyone who wants to take better care of their well-being and improve their relationship with others. Mindfulness helps teachers to reduce stress for both themselves and their students as well as cultivate compassionate attention and presence in the classroom.
A big focus during the course will be Mindfulness practice. We will try different Mindfulness meditation techniques to gradually introduce and integrate Mindfulness into your daily life and to school environment.
During the cultural and nature activities, the participants get to know Finnish and Lappish culture and enjoy the beautiful and pure nature with different activities such as snowshoeing or nature walks, swimming in a refreshing river and practising mindfulness in the forest.
